  • Is this program approved in California?
We are able to offer you this course because the COURT where you received your citation has approved our program. That means your point WILL BE MASKED on your California DMV records, exactly as if you went to a classroom traffic school.

The DMV DOES NOT ACT AS AN APPROVING BODY for any online traffic schools in California. While the DMV's of OTHER states might take part in the approval of online traffic schools, the California DMV DOES NOT.

Because your COURT gave you permission- your ticket WILL BE dismissed, and you will not receive a point on your driving record; however there is NO SUCH THING as a California "DMV Approved" online traffic school.

  • It's been a while since I got my ticket, and I still haven't heard from the court. What should I do?
Call the court in the jurisdiction where you received your ticket and have your citation number handy. They should be able to tell you what to expect.

  • If I completed a traffic school requirement within the last 18 months, can I do it again?
You would have to speak directly to a judge about whether or not you would be eligible to attend again.

  • I am required to take a twelve hour course. Will your course satisfy this requirement?
No, we are not approved for any 12-hour courses.
  • Can I take the course if I am a juvenile?
Each court decides if juveniles will be permitted to take the course. You may want to ask your court before starting the course if the court has not given you specific permission to take an online course.

  • What paperwork do I need to turn into the court when I finish the course?
Ordinarily, the only thing that is required that you turn in to the court is a signed Completion Certificate. However, the following counties do not required a student's signature, therefore we will send the Certificate directly to the court: Butte, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Monterrey, Napa, Plumas, Riverside, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Sierra, Solano, Staniclaus, and Toulumme. See "Court List" to verify if your court has any special requirements.

  • Can you fax or e-mail the certificate to me or the court?
We fax certificates to LA county. We send certificates electronically to Riverside, Plumas, & Solano. All other courts correspond through the Postal Service.

  • Can I use TooLazyForTrafficSchool.com for my traffic school requirement?
The court in the jurisdiction where you received your ticket determines whether or not they will accept this alternative to classroom traffic school. Please start our Registration process to see whether or not your court allows this alternative. You may always make a request for this alternative to your court.

  • Can I take the course even though your site says my court is not approved?
You may take our course only with special written permission from the court. Keep in mind that the court will give considerations to special circumstances such as living out of state where you committed the violation(s), medical situations, and etc. There are no special rules stating when a court will allow special considerations - but it's never hurt to ask.

  • Can I take the course on the Due Date?
In general, NO. For LA county, you have to complete it by NOON on the Due Date.
  • How long will it take the court to process my completion once I finish the course?
Once you complete the course we will mail your certificate of completion within 24 hours via the delivery method that you have chosen. Once the court receives your certificate, they will mark it as received and electronically process your dismissal to the DMV to be taken off your record. For large courts, the dismissal process can take several days to weeks. The exact timeframe for this process depends on each individual court, so be patient. If you have completed your course prior to your due date, you have nothing to worry about.

  • How does the court/government agency get my information/certificate?
Depending on where you get cited (which state/county) or how you were referred to take our course, will determine where and how your passing information is sent. In most instances where the government agency, not a court, requires a student to take the course, we will transmit completion information electronically. To check where your certificate will be sent please begin the registration process. You will be given this information before entering any personal data.

  • My due date for completing traffic school has passed. Can I get an extension?
Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Each traffic court has it's own policy for granting extensions. Contact the traffic clerk of your court to inquire about their policies regarding due dates. Some courts will grant you an extension over the phone, some require you to write a letter requesting an extension, some require you to appear in court to ask the judge, and some simply refuse altogether. It is best to try to complete traffic school allowing for enough time to turn in your certificate of completion on or before your due date.
